Educational and Community Support Events
This is a new addition to our season! The events will always be open to everyone and anyone, regardless of past experience or involvement. We hope these events will be a space to learn more about theatre, about playwriting, and about new plays and to build community support for theatre-making. Some ideas we currently have for these events:
Radio Show This is a new addition to our season! WordPlay Festival* This is a process-oriented festival where writers work with a mentor (usually from the Columbia Graduate school) to develop a play. We support writers by finding a mentor for them to work with and helping them set up readings and give feedback. At the end of the process, we’ll host a weekend festival to read segments of that play. Here is a quick intro to WordPlay. We typically select 3-6 writers for WordPlay. Mainstage Show* The Mainstage Show is our fully developed show and produced show. We will work with the team to realize this show within a virtual setting. Drawing from other virtual productions we’ll work together to think about what it means to develop a play or musical virtually and what technical and design elements we can use such as camera angles, a green screen, etc. Ultimately, we aim to provide this production with a weekend (three or four show) run. *Our Mainstage and WordPlay shows are selected from the submissions. |
As always, NOMADS is committed to supporting playwrights and helping fulfill their needs. If you have suggestions, ideas, or a different vision for your show this fall, please don’t hesitate to email us or let us know on the submission form!
